Charlie
Just wanted to update you on Charlie. He is a wonderful dog !!
He's finally eating dry food and putting on weight. He didn't seem to know how to play with toys or hold bones with his paws. That's has all changed.
He has warmed up nicely and loves to run in the yard. Just a great dog !! We love him dearly.
Thanks, very much!

Odin
I wanted to give you all an update on Odin (formerly Hoss) - we adopted him December 15th, 2011 from the Animal Care Center in Plainfield.
Odin absolutely loves having a permanent home - watching him leap and bound the backyard is awesome. He found out that he can run laps on our main floor the day after we got him home with us. He's easily the most playful and fun-loving dog I've ever had the pleasure of owning. He also likes to think of himself as a lapdog - possibly the world's largest! It's interesting trying to watch football on Sunday when there's 115 pounds of love climbing all over your lap!
My fiance and I are incredibly happy to have added Odin to our family - he's the perfect dog... even if he hogs most of our king size bed at night.
Thanks!
Gunner
We adoped Gunner from Help Save Pets in March 2011 when he was only 12 pounds and 2 months old. I never thought we'd get a puppy that was quite that young, but when it's right it's right and we can't imagine our lives without him. We don't think he can imagine his without us, either. When we first brought him home he hated "car rides." We could only think that maybe he was afraid we might leave him somewhere. But after a few trips back to HSP for his puppy classes and trips to "grammie's house with the magic closet of doggie treats" he learned that car rides bring good things and now he loves them. He's even taken a few long road trips and proven himself to be a wonderful driving companion.
Gunner is now a year old, 91 pounds and still growing. His favorite things are going to the dog park, taking walks, playing chase, sleeping in the bed or spread out across the entire couch, and chewing on any toy or bone we'll let him. The only chew toy he's not chewed up is the "milk bone" toy he brought home with him from HSP that first night. He still just carries it around with him like in the picture. He also loves to show off for the humans what a well mannered doggie he is as he sits, lays down, stays, comes, gives paw, and "brings it to me." Of course, showing off is just for the humans. When other doggies are around he'd much rather play chase or kissy face with them! He never met anyone he didn't like.
Thank you so much for rescuing our big baby doggie. We love him!
Sincerely,
the Zarat family
Vivian
Here is a quick update on Vivian. We adopted her in November of 2011, she is a 2 1/2 year old Jack Russell mix. What a great dog! She has fit in right away with our family - it seems likes she has been here forever. She is so sweet and loves to snuggle, but is always up for running around with the kids. They absolutely love her too. For anyone considering adopting a dog that is a little older, I highly recommend it! She is an awesome addition to our family.
Thanks!

Cana
I adopted Cana ("Arlene" when we first met) in June 2011 and never looked back. As a 2yrs old terrier mix she just needed a refresher course on potty training and basic commands. Can't imagine my life without her now! She fits right into the city life, and loves going to the dog parks to play with and chase other dogs. Movies in the park? No problem! She loves to hang out on the blanket and people watch all night. Walks? "What kind of dog is that?" is an all too often occurrence, but a welcome one as Cana gets a pet on the head or scratch under her chin.
Love my dog. Love my life. Sweetness for sure.

Copper
We adopted Copper "Billy Ray" in Aug. 2010. He has really come a long way, and has really changed our lives. At first, Copper was a very timid dog, scared of just about anything around the house. He was afraid to walk on the tile, afraid of the stairs, and just about any noise. Despite his fears, he found a safe, soft place in the living room, and just laid down, and let out a sigh of relief, as saying "finally, I'm home". I think once he realized we were there for him, to take care of him, he started to become a bit more adventurous. After a lot of time and work with him, he is now a very loving, loyal, and protective dog! He has "his chair", and is always looking out the front window, and makes sure to let us know of any "strangers". He LOVES more than anything our 10 yr. old golden retriever and definitely keeps her young! Also, he has made a true best friend, our 7 yr. old daughter, Maddy. He is sure to be by her side every night, and always makes sure she is safe! He is very sweet and loves to snuggle with all of us. We would like to thank you for allowing us the chance to make his life less stressful, and ours more fulfilled.

Charlie
We adopted Charlie July 2011 he was known as Judd at that time. As soon as we got him home he fit right in. We are adjusting to his size, we previously had a West Highland Terrier who was considerably smaller. Charlie has settled in with our family already. Help Save Pets knew very little about him, he is a 1 year old Yellow Lab, rescued from a kill shelter in TN. He is such a sweet dog and is a very quick learner, within a day he had learnt the command sit. He aims to please as much as he can. At this time we just wanted to say THANK YOU to Help Save Pets, first of all for rescuing him from TN and secondly for adopting him to us. We fell in love with him immediately! I will send an update in a few months after training. Charlie does not have to worry any more, we are his forever home!!

Lucy and Kyote

To all those who helped us along our very different journeys,
I, the shepherd mix, was once called Ferrah but now go by Kyote - can you guess why? People always say I look like a real coyote! I was rescued as a young puppy and after about a few months, my forever family found me a friend. She, Berta, was once a puppy mill dog. She was shy at the beginning, but very sweet and innocent. My forever family named her Lucy, like the Character from "The Chronicles of Narnia," but I think she is more like the Lucy from "Peanuts" Our forever family always makes sure we have raw hides to chew, squeaky toys to play with, and fields to run in! Thank you for everyone that helped us, from the rescuers, fosters, vets, and care takers.
All our love,
Kyote and Lucy Surdynski
Bella

I recently adopted Bella in July, and she is the sweetest dog and such a wonderful addition to our household. She's treated like a princess! She also became best buds with my roommate's dog, Dudley. The two are inseparable! In the few weeks that she's been home, her personality has really begun to show! She's happy, carefree, and so spoiled.. I love her!
Thank You!
