volunteer

Volunteering for HSP is a rewarding and fun activity that allows you to be actively involved in helping homeless animals find new homes. HSP volunteers show animals to prospective adopters, and assist as adoption counselors on the weekends. To prepare for this job volunteers are trained:
• How to handle animals
• Where to find and how to show animals
• How to help people make a decision about adoption
• How to explain the adoption process and requirements to those adopting
Adoption coordinators are on site on the weekends to help, give direction and evaluate/process adoption applications. You’ll be partnered with an experienced adoption counselor at first so you won’t be on your own.
Volunteers need to be dependable and age 16 or older. We do accept volunteers 12 to 15; however they must be accompanied by a parent while volunteering.
