Maddie and Tessa

MaddieandTessa1 MaddieandTessa2I was asked about a year ago to send you a story about our adopted girls, Maddie and Tessa.  Life got in the way and it has taken a little longer than expected.

We adopted Maddie from the Animal Care Center in October of 2012.  She and her siblings had been fostered through your program.  Her Mom, Contessa, was pregnant when she was recused from a kill shelter and brought into your program in the Summer of 2012.  We fell in love with Maddie’s photo on your website before we ever met her.   The rest of her siblings had already been adopted and her Mom was also scheduled to go home with her forever family.  We were able to meet her Mom when we brought Maddie home.  It is always sad to separate family.

I had thought about Maddie’s Mom a lot over the winter months.  My husband agreed that once summer arrived and there would be someone home all day, we could adopt a second dog in May of 2013.  I arrived at the Oswego Animal hospital one Friday afternoon to just “look.”  I discovered that Contessa had been returned to the hospital after living with an aggressive dog for the last year.  She had only been returned in the last day!  It was ment to be!

Our story quickly spread.  When I returned to the hospital that night with my husband, two kids, and Maddie (to re-introduce Mother and Daughter), the Help Save Pets volunteer who had fostered Tessa when she was pregnant had come to the Hospital to witness the reunion.  We heard wonderful stories about both our girls.  The girls seemed to recognize each other immediately.  Through the assistance of Help Save Pets, our family was completed.

I have attached a few photos of the girls.  I wish I had more to share but they rarely sit still.  We just moved into a new home in Naperville and they are normally playing (as seen in the video).  I am sorry the video is upside down.  They wrestle every day – almost all day.  The interesting part is that they always take turns who is dominate and who is submissive.  They follow each other around and often sleep laying on each other.

Thank you again!
